Bernhard Siebert

Bernhard Siebert, born 1980 in Passau, Germany, works as teaching and research assistant for Xavier Le Roy at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies at Giessen’s Justus-Liebig University, Germany. He studied in Vienna, Austria, and Rennes, France, before working as head of press at Berlin’s Sophiensaele theatre, Germany, and as head of press and as assistant to the direction in Zurich’s Theater Neumarkt, Switzerland. In the last years, next to his work for academia, he has worked as a production manager and dramaturg, for companies and artists such as Swoosh Lieu, Kiriakos Hadjiioannou, and ravvina/veit. His research focuses mainly on contemporary experimental performance, the use stage machinery, and game and play mechanics in theatre. Recent publications comprise a.o. Theater und Kritik, co-edited wit Olivia Ebert, Eva Holling, Philipp Schulte, Nikolaus Müller-Schöll, and Gerald Siegmund (2018), and Narrativity and Intermediality in Contemporary Theatre (2021, forthcoming).
